Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) is a required feature of 802.11ac Wave 2 APs that serves clients in parallel, freeing airtime and increasing the effective thoroughput of the Wi-Fi network. Ruckus BeamFlex+ customizes AP antenna configurations to focus signals, reduce noise, and produce the highest possible data rates.

To take full advantage of the speed performance offered by 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) APs (up to 5 gigabits per second), our customers have already begun installing multi-gigabit switches to either replace or supplement older infrastructure. From our perspective, the transition to multi-gigabit switches should start now.

With the advent of 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) and now 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6), an AP has the potential of more than one-gigabit throughput. One GbE access port could now possibly be the bottleneck to performance for Wi-Fi users, hence an interest in connections higher than one gigabit per second between access points and switches.
