Airvana, a leader in small cell solutions, today announced that its S1000 LTE-plus-Wi-Fi small cell has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards in the “In-Building Wireless – Small Cell, Wi-Fi, LAN” category. The E-Tech Awards represent the most innovative emerging mobile services, solutions and technology from areas such as the cloud, network equipment, M2M and the Internet of Things.
The Airvana S1000 provides cost-effective indoor voice and data coverage and capacity for small and medium business locations. With a capacity of 16 active LTE users, it allows mobile network operators to deploy in locations with high usage and user density. The S1000’s Wi-Fi supports private access for small business employees and public “hotspot” access for visitors.
S1000 deployments are managed by the Airvana Device Management System (DMS), a scalable platform that automates setup for large-scale plug-and-play provisioning. With Airvana’s hybrid SON (H-SON), parameters are automatically configured to ensure smooth coexistence with the macro network and neighboring small cells. Using the S1000, operators can deliver LTE plus managed Wi-Fi hotspot service to businesses with a large number of small and medium-size venues such as restaurant and retail chains, and branch offices.
Industry experts, analysts and media judged the hundreds of entries across CTIA's three programs to determine the finalists and, ultimately, the winners. For Airvana, the 2015 E-Tech Award is the latest in a string of awards for its S1000 and OneCell™ products, including two Mobile World Congress 2015 Global Mobile Awards and CTIA’s 2014 E-Tech Award.
